BrighterBalance Adds Student Rewards, Behavior Plan Import, and Leader Reporting
Duluth, GA — August 3, 2026 — BrighterBalance today released its 2026-27 platform update, built from feedback gathered in spring pilot classrooms across special education, MTSS, and general education settings. Several pilot sites, including Community School of Davidson, have since purchased for the fall.
The largest addition is a student rewards system. Pilot teachers reported that documenting positive behavior felt unfamiliar at first, then became the part of the day they looked forward to, and asked for a way to celebrate the student rather than only record the moment. Teachers now build their own reward store, set point values, and show students a dedicated student view where students choose how to spend what they have earned.
The release also adds interval recording for progress monitoring and compliance documentation. BrighterBalance supports partial interval recording, momentary time sampling, and frequency counts, prompting the teacher at each moment to observe and record. Observation data produces its own report on the student record, kept separate from ABC logs.
Three enhancements remove typing from the teacher's day. Automatic behavior plan import extracts goals and interventions from an uploaded BIP or IEP, so teachers review and approve instead of retyping a plan they already have. Teachers can store documents on a student record so the AI Advisor is grounded in that student's history. Filters now apply across every view of student data, narrowing to a single behavior in a single setting in a few clicks.
Teachers can also ask the AI Advisor to generate a printable report during a conversation about a student, and administrators using Leader AI can query behavior data across students and campuses in plain language rather than selecting from predefined reports.
"Everything in this release came from a teacher telling us what was missing. The rewards system is the clearest example. We did not plan it. Our pilot teachers started tracking positive behavior, found it changed their classrooms, and told us they needed somewhere for it to go. Our job was to listen and build it."
